What is JohnnyCare?

JohnnyCare is an affordable, health insurance-like product that is not health insurance. It is a legal Florida-based health care sharing ministry, brought to you by the legal Florida church "Our Lady of Perpetual Health," which was founded this year but that we (by faith) believe has been in continuous operation since the 1600s (on a very rough technicality). We are a collaborative community of 5,000 like-minded, healthy Floridians who are rejecting big health insurance companies and Obamacare, but also the so-called “medical elite,” hospitals, prescriptions, and, above all, unhealthy people.
Think of it this way: JohnnyCare is to health insurance what Splenda is to sugar — a low-calorie substitute that will make you feel like you're getting the real thing even though you really aren't. And, thanks to the great state of Florida's "safe harbor" law, it's absolutely legal. And we foresee no legal barrier to opening in several other states! Congratulations! With JohnnyCare, your health care is in your own hands.

Our Lady of Perpetual Health's Statement of Beliefs

  • I believe in caring for one another (Galatians 6:2).
  • I believe in not getting sick.
  • I believe in not having a preexisting condition.
  • I believe that I shouldn’t be paying for health care for anyone who might be sitting on their couch eating bonbons all day, every day.
  • I believe it’s my right to direct my own health care, free from government restraints, dictates and oversight.
  • I believe in JohnnyCare's right not to pay for my financial or medical needs.
  • I believe all my health care needs can be managed with a mini first-aid kit.

How JohnnyCare Works

*Please see our Sharing Guidelines for “Ineligible medical needs.”
At JohnnyCare, we are an ultra-exclusive community of health-conscious, like-minded Floridians who care for one another* through health care sharing donations. Here's how it works —
Step 1
Eligible Floridians agree to our Statement of Beliefs and the terms of our Sharing Guidelines.
Step 2
You provide the standard $1.99 sharing amount that all members gift to JohnnyCare.**
Step 3
Your $1.99 gift provides another member with a mini first-aid kit and their $1.99 gift provides one for you!
The JohnnyCare community provides for all of your eligible* medical needs!

How to Use JohnnyCare

In order for JohnnyCare to avoid being regulated like a health insurer, Florida law asks that we provide for the "financial or medical needs" of each member of the JohnnyCare community "through contributions from other participants."
Become a JohnnyCare member through a one-time gift of $1.99 and receive this JohnnyCare-approved mini first-aid kit, containing not one, not two, but three band aids. Because we know that in life, sometimes accidents happen. But if they happen more than three times, it stops being our problem.
If you need medical care that cannot be managed by your JohnnyCare mini first-aid kit, follow these four steps:
  1. 1. Receive medical care.
  2. 2. Receive a bill from your health-care provider.
  3. 3. Pay that bill on your own.
  4. 4. Don’t bother JohnnyCare.

Our Lady of Perpetual Health Church Service

Notice: The organization facilitating the sharing of medical expenses is not an insurance company, and neither its guidelines nor its plan of operation is an insurance policy. Membership is not offered through an insurance company, and the organization is not subject to the regulatory requirements or consumer protections of the Florida Insurance Code. Whether anyone chooses to assist you with your medical bills will be totally voluntary because no other participant is compelled by law to contribute toward your medical bills. As such, participation in the organization or a subscription to any of its documents should never be considered to be insurance. Regardless of whether you receive any payments for medical expenses or whether this organization continues to operate, you are always personally responsible for the payment of your own medical bills.
**Contributions from members, although tiny health care miracles, are not tax deductible.
